Early autumn

I stopped for a chat with a neighbour on the street a week or so back, and she told me that a bit of local weather-lore says that the Flower Show marks the point where summer begins to give way to Autumn. Since the Flower Show takes place before the middle of August my thought at the time was that that seemed a little early for autumn. This year however, it seems to have been a very exact and accurate prediction - things have taken an unmistakably autumnal turn since then. I'm still hoping this is a blip and there will be a good few weeks of late summer warmth left yet.
