MonoMonday Challenge - Connections: Crossing

Several connections in this shot:

1. The obvious, of course; it's a level crossing, so it's where the railway connects with the road.

2. There's a station at the crossing, so it's where the trains connect with their passengers

3. The line connects the West Coast main line to the Midland main line.

4. The line used to connect the university cities of Oxford and Cambridge, but all but the stretch between Bedford and Bletchley was closed in 1967. However, there are moves afoot to re-open the line; the line to Oxford is due to re-open in the next two or three years, whilst there is a strong campaign to re-open the line to Cambridge too. That will be more difficult as it would need to follow a new route, but campaigners are confident it will be approved.

Thanks once again to WetCoast Bob for hosting the challenge again this week.
