Tuesday 24 July 2007: we take care of our own

Here is a girl who I met along fourteenth street. We didn't really talk, but I rather liked her direct honesty and I believe that she really just wanted a milkshake. Or maybe she was trying to meet some new "friends." At any rate, I gave her a dollar in exchange for her picture. The forelorn expression is her camera face. Sometimes I think that people are tempted to take advantage of the generosity of new yorkers, but with all the corruption that comprises the rest of the country, our children learn what they live. I wonder if she got her milkshake, or her version of a milkshake.
