Sunday 7 February 2010: Basking Shark

Our aftdeck is a workdeck where wires, chain, anchors and other heavy offshore equipment are torturing the steel. It is a inch thick steel plate and is usually not painted because this is hardly of any use. One and a half year ago, the crew painted my name with the number 50 on this deck and we were surprised to see that even after half a year this was still readable. Because the whole ship is painted now and we have a lot of paint with expired pot life, we came up with the idea to chip the complete aftdeck and use the expired paint for it. Days and days later, it is almost finished as you can see, and the logo of this project, a basking shark, was painted in expired yellow. A basking shark on a basking Retriever.
