Sunday 7 February 2010: Ancient Britain #1: The Wall
We were in Carlisle yesterday, and stayed over so we could walk some of the Wall on the way home (we still intend to walk the whole length in one go at some point).
Hard to believe that it was built nearly 2000 years ago, and whilst there is lots of information about why it was there, I prefer to think Hadrian had the foresight to see that we may need something in the future to keep the pesky northern blippers out of civilisation ;-)
North is to the left.
edit, when I say North is to the left, I mean in the photo, not generally!
