What a day!

Up early this morning and breakfast at 7.30am (no point in lying abed when we have adventures to go on). Wonderful breakfast, full Scottish, after fruit juice and a plate of fresh fruit, lots of tea and toast. Really set us up for the day!

A tourist day today, not a walking day, although plenty of walking involved. Coach left at 9am to take us to Tobermory. The village looked beautiful in the sunshine and it was warm so we could stroll along without jackets. I love the coloured houses reflected in the water, and so blipped them. Had a nice coffee in the church/shop on the front.

We then headed to Fionnphort, at the other end of the island. The drive down was really nice, not my first time by any means but enjoy it so much. Some of our group were here for the first time, and they were thrilled with the stunning scenery. We crossed over on the walk on ferry to Iona. Iona has the most wonderful rock and sandy beaches. It was where Columba landed in 563ad to establish his abbey, and to bring Christianity to Scotland.

Some of our group were going to Staffa and Fingal's Cave, but as I have been in the past I wanted to spend my time on Iona, as did some others, as it has a very special ambience. Had some lunch and then strolled around, ending up at the Abbey. I spent several hours there, and took lots of pictures.

A group of us had a drink before travelling back on the ferry to Fionnphort, and then we headed back to Craignure and the hotel, and a dip in the hotel pool for the HG before our six course dinner.

The hotel is in a lovely position looking out over the Mull of Kintyre and the views are simply stunning. From our bedroom we could see the Lismore Lighthouse, and from the dining room the lighthouse is visible, and also Duart Castle. While dining we watched the sun go down and Duart Castle picked out in the light of the setting sun and looked fab.

And another adventure tomorrow, I hope.......
