In Step

We visited Mary today, in Tony's home village of Beal, and took a walk along the River Aire before heading home. As we crossed this field on the way back from the lock at Beal Cut, this horse decided to join us. It trotted up the embankment and fell into step with Tony.

Back in the seventies, when Tony and I were still at College, these embankments prevented Mary's village from being flooded one very wet winter. The river poured over the opposite bank and flooded the fields for some distance, then froze. It was an amazing sight.
