Pukeko Pranks

Dodging the cowpats the pukeko hurtled across the field trying to get enough lift for take off. He managed to rise about a metre off the ground before sinking back to earth again, having run out of field.

I biked to the Kumeras today to see if there are any chicks or ducklings out yet. There were none to be seen but I stayed for some time watching the antics of these clumsy, colourful birds.
