Mono-Monday "Recycling" - Womble Den?

I built this den in the garden about 20 years ago when our 3 lads were small. It follows the recycling ethos which the Wombles made famous.

You will see that the lower parts of the walls are made from old unwanted doors which we were about to throw away. Most of the rest of the structure is made with pine cladding which was removed from our bathroom when it was renovated. The floor covering is an old groundsheet covered with old carpet. The chair and table (which the lads "helped" me to make) were made out of bits of old kitchen cupboards. The door (which you can just see on the right of the photo - currently, alas, falling off its hinges) was an old cupboard door so the doorframe is only about 2 feet 6 inches high; it's fine for kids to get in, but a bit trickier for me than it was 20 years ago!

I have to admit that I bought new corrugated plastic sheeting for the roof (which has never, ever leaked!!) - oh, and the magnetic door catches, and the screws and nails were new too!!

We painted the outside of the den in blotchy camouflage colours, so it's quite unobtrusive hidden amongst laurel and holly bushes. The photo is taken looking in through the door and you can just see a bit of the outside paintwork.

Fits the "Recycling" theme pretty well, I think :)

Best viewed large.

Thanks again to WetcoastBob for hosting Mono-Monday so well!
