First Day at School Nursery

It was Logan's first day at school nursery today - just a week after his big bro Aidan started primary one. He was in for just an hour and a half to get used to being in the nursery and settle in. Despite having been to private nursery before, and having actually been to the school nursery for the past two years when dropping Aidan off there, we weren't sure how he'd react to being left on his own there. It turned out that there was quite a few of the kids that he knew already from private nursery, so he at least had a few friends.

He was a bit teary when we left (to go sit in the parents room), but by all accounts he soon settled, and mrs mono wasn't called back through to settle him. When we went back through at the end of his settling session, he was quite happily playing with a few of the bigger boys that he knows, and apparently he had been fine. He's back tomorrow for a slightly longer session, but then should be in normal hours from Wednesday.

It was also Aidan's first full day of primary one today, having only been in for half days last week. He had been quite keen on staying for the full day and having lunch there (although I suspect that that's only because he wanted to take his new Spiderman lunch box with him). Today was the first day that we left him at the gates - last week, parents were allowed to take them into the playground and round to their classrooms (their classrooms are all accessible from the playground), however this week, the teachers were trying to encourage the parents to let them walk round themselves, as that's what will normally happen. Aidan was quite happy to just leave us at the gates, and trundled off to his classroom carrying all his bags (his normal school bag, his bag for P.E. which was to be taken in to school today, and his yellow 'homework' bag).

When we picked him up at 3.15pm he was still smiling, and had a good day apparently - he can't wait to go back tomorrow!
