True to our policy, we had breakfast at home today, a rather nice meal even if I do say so myself.

After that, most of the day was spent down by the beach. There's a boardwalk which runs the length of this local beach, connecting it with the wonderfully impressive dunes of Maspalomas. It's packed with little shops and bars and restaurants and is a great amenity. We spent a lazy few hours there. Today was quite hazy, though the sun was coming through all the same and the temperature indicators were registering 32° C. We didn't do the actual beach thing at all, but the boardwalk is so well done that there's still a very strong sense of being beachside.

It's a bit of a walk from our place to the beach, down a steep and winding road. Martin's advice last time had been to take that route going, but come back a different way which has only one short flight of steps from the beach. We did this today, and managed to find our way back to a little cocktail place which we'd liked last time. A couple of silly cocktails fortified us for a short walk back to Hotel Gold, a brand-new hotel which has popped up since our last visit. It's an impressive place, with a lively sitting-out area in front. We treated ourselves to another stop here and checked out part of the really gorgeous interior.

The restaurant we'd intended to eat in tonight had finished serving by the time we got there, so we did a bit of a wander before settling for a place which described its food as 'German and International'. It was okay, though Carl's so-called curry wurst starter was nothing like the real thing.
