3sleeps to go- school trouser sewing will begin tonight

We managed to fit a wonderful day into just over a morning today! We parked in the old town, showed Katie where Mummy and Grandad's first homest (we both lived at homes right on the sea front). We played on the 2p machines in an arcade, we had a go at a little water squirting game where she won "Tokens". We won enough for two lollies! We went to the Harbour and walked down the pier. Katie held a crab that some children had caught. We walked to the lighthouse & she spent a while copying the Diving Belle sculpture. We walked back down the pier and headed to the funfair. Katie chose the tea cups. With Granny. We then walked to the Harbour Bar for ice cream which we ate on the beach in the beautiful sunshine.

We took a drive round to the other bay and had a picnic on the cliff top. Katie ran and climbed on the outdoor gym before we headed to the play park. A climb, a swing, a lot of slides until time to head back to Grandad's. A lovely surprise of a quick hello from one of her Uncles while we had a quick cup of tea before we set off for home.

In a surprise, unplanned twist to the day, when we got home we were invited for fish & chips and a walk at Hornsea beach. We had such a fabulous, relaxed time. Katie ate a pile of fish (on top of tea as soon as we had arrived home!). We enjoyed watching the sun begin to go down and played on the sand, climbed the sea defence rocks, walked the sea wall. What a wonderful day out to end the last summer weekend!
