twinned with trumpton

Walking sort of a day;

Drove slowly up to Bridge of Orchy; stopped en route at Callander's bakery, mucked about at Lochearnhead and finally rolled around the side of Loch Tulla and stopped at Victoria Bridge.

The plan was to wander up across Rannoch Moor to Ba Bridge and just stretch the legs, clear the head.

It worked well, the showers subsided into breezy sunshine and as we climbed the oranges of the grass and the green of the pines came out and dulled the pervading greyness of earlier. Not too many around, we marched steadily for a couple of hours and then admired the view, decided we ought to do this in October and marched back; turned west briefly towards the start of Stob Gabhar and gazed in wonder at the setting sun over the tempestuous clouds towards the bottom end of Glen Etive. Stunning, we sat and gazed a while over the tumbling river, testament to the rainfall we'd missed earlier.

Then back for dinner at the Tyndrum Inn and snaffled a bed at the By The Way and sat in, drank wine and plotted our course from Fort Bill to Milngavie.

Smiles a plenty
