Goodbye/Hello

We had a cool, rainy morning, a reminder that our spectacular, seemingly endless summer will draw to a close and we'll have to remember to take wet weather gear when we go out. The days are already noticeably shorter, and the birds don't wake us up as they did in early summer.

I thought that life would move more slowly once I was retired, but after six years in that blessed state, accelerando is how I'd describe the passage of time, as the weeks whiz by!

So here's a lingering "farewell" to summer, and a cheerful "hello, welcome back" to autumn, just around the corner, with its own pleasures. The third annual Bellingham Beer Week -- now 10 days long -- ranks high on Phil's list. And I'm looking forward to meeting Scottish blipper and celebrated author Peter May, who will be reading and signing his books in Bellingham this month!
