Grand Day Out

A drive towards Puffin Island, where the Trwyn Du lighthouse is situated, was the start of an action packed day. We did not let the high winds and grey clouds ruin our day, though I could've done with less wind for this shot and no rain for the shot of Menai Bridge (I failed miserably as drops of water kept getting on my filter: L got a better shot of it with his mobile!)

Anyhow, after much stone throwing (and hitting somebody on the head), dolphin watching and shell/puffin searching, we all had tea 'n' cake in the nearby cafe. St Seiriol’s sixth century priory and hospice was swiftly followed, which was another gem for photo oppertunities. The kids loved it as there were plenty to explore within the ruins.

We headed off to Menai Bridge via a slow drive past Beaumaris Castle (on a better day, weather-wise we would've stayed). We found a space beneath the bridge for Sye Tuttle to shoot the bridge. I found a sheltered area (from the rain) hoping to capture it, but as mention earlier the weather beat me. Perhaps another time. :-(

Benllech Beach was the next stop. Rain stopped. Sun shone. Typical!! We met up with S's parents here, which was nice. We found a Swiss Army knife on the beach as we strolled amongst the sand and rocks. After getting wet around the hems & ankles we (naturally) ordered fish 'n' chips and headed off to the campsite. Tables, chairs, plates & cutlery all set up before hand meant we got stuck in asap!

All tired and glowing, but did not stop us from staying up till God knows what time in the wee hours of the morning. Had some nice chats about all sorts which kicked off with some bad taste school boy jokes: stomachs aching with laughter.
I discovered the joy of Southern Comfort 'n' coke.

Sad that this is our last night. But happy cos ace memories have been etched into all of us.
