Mt Roy

Early golf game just just a quick shot of MT Roy, it was a beautiful morning mist rising off the lake.

I was playing golf so unable to spend time soaking up the great light, an 8.20 start with white fairways and white greens, a very heavy frost, no frost delay due to the amount of players having to get through the days, over a hundred players.
With in a few minutes, shoes clogged with ice I felt 3 inches taler.

Another day tomorrow more frost forecasted and a even earlier tee time 7.15 :-(

The summit of Mount Roy towers 1,578 meters above sea level.

You can get a 360 degrees view of most of Lake Wanaka, Mount Aspiring, Matukituki Valley, the Wanaka township, and see even as far as Hawkdun Range in Central Otago.

However, you must do this walk on a clear day with little to no clouds to be able to enjoy the views.

The Mt Roy track is closed in Spring from the 1 October to 10 November (inclusive) to allow for lambing. The Mt Roy track crosses private land and no dogs or bikes are allowed on the track.
