A perfect end to an arduous day steering the good ship BG. My head needed unravelled so it was down to the beach for a gentle stroll by the edge of the fantastically blue, gently lapping water.

Ah....relaxing

Spoilt only by some damn fool dog walkers. I feel a wee rantette coming on. The majority of dog walkers are good, sensible people. We all know the score and understand the dog walker code (unwritten) There is nothing worse than meeting two of that few who are idiots. When a dog walker with a brain sees a dog on a lead on a semi deserted beach they think "oh right...best get my dog close or on a lead". The idiot dog walker allows their dog to romp up and annoy the dog on the lead.

These idiots usually say "oh he just wants to play". This is the get of jail card for them. They are the proud owners of a hugely friendly dog and your dog is some freak of nature as he doesn't want a strange dog near him. It will alarm him, it may cause him to growl or rear at the approaching dog. Idiots

Then we have the "he is only a puppy" brigade as they demonstrate the fact that recall is not a lesson yet learned. He may only be a puppy but you, the owner, have to teach him that not all dogs love all other dogs. You also have a legal responsibility to be in control of your dog. Chasing it around shrieking its name and shaking treats whilst it stoically ignores you is Not control.

The above two incidents (which did not result in any clash, no thanks to the idiots) did not mar our walk but they did cause me to furrow my brow and glare a lot.
