Trendy New Plaster!

I never knew plaster casts had changed over the years!

Another trip up to the Infirmary with The Mother to have her wrist examined by the Orthopaedic Consultant and the back-slab replaced by a plaster cast. I say "plaster cast" but in fact we were amazed to find they are no longer made of cotton bandage and Plaster of Paris, but now they are fibreglass dressings impregnated with polyurethane, and available in a range of colours.

"Beige!" The Mother requested. "No, they only come in white, black, pink, purple, green .............." was the reply. Another x-ray and she was ready to leave.

After that we were really lucky! We went to Audiology clad in noticeable wrist plaster and bandaged legs to beg a fitting of The Mother's new hearing aids to save her having to be hauled in and out of the car again on Thursday.

Great, if we sat and waited, she would be seen. Better news followed when she was amazed by the quality of hearing she now had. She complained how noisy our car was then wondered what the deep sound was in her room (the motor of her ripple mattress).

The day was made by sitting in the car in the care home car park eating scampi and chips. She had missed her evening meal but really enjoyed this treat.

So, the family can see her how content she is fed-up well fed and plastered in the evening sunshine.
