Head Office

Back in the day when I was a kid I lived in Hobsonville, a small airforce base in Auckland.

On the rare occasion we would travel south to Tauranga to visit friends for the weekend in the Regal Valiant car and would have a route that included stopping at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Royal Oak for a bucket of chicken before driving south on the motorway.

On approaching Tip Top corner at Mt Wellington we knew we were in the country and had officially left the big smoke and were on our way for a decent 3 hour trip south to the citrus city of Tauranga. I often wished how cool it would be to work at Tip Top and eat free ice cream.

How times have changed - both city boundaries and career dreams as this is now head office to the company I franchise to. And yes today while attending a meeting with our management team there was a continuous supply of frozen treats.

The head office team acknowledged that you have to be self controlled with eating habits in house or the rear end could be mistaken for the back of a bus. I took note and chose a healthy iced option but for the record the smell at top top corner was just as I had imagined, a mixture of candy floss and goody goody gum drop, and classic hokey pokey.

Ahhhhhh ... Focus son focus
