Room with a view in Assynt

We have arrived in Lochinver for a few days. From our room we can spy Norman McCaig's beloved Assynt . Hiding behind the tree you can glimpse Suilven, that remarkably shaped mountain . All of this reminds me of Norman's great words:

Glaciers, grinding west, gouged out
these valleys, rasping the brown sandstone,
and left, on the hard rock below-
the ruffled foreland-
this frieze of mountains, filed
on the blue air-
Stac Polly,
Cul Beag, Cul Mor, Suilven,
Canisp-
a frieze and
a litany.
