Day out in Maldon

'R's car in for a service so we spent the day visiting Maldon, a town on the Blackwater estuary in Essex England, which is famous for the Hythe, the home to many of the remaining Thames barges. The tide is out and all the boats are resting on the mud flats.

In Maldon's parish church of All Saints is a memorial window to George Washington, whose great-great grandfather, Lawrence Washington, is buried here.
