Tin man ...

Since living in NY I have always loved the look of the Mobil Building on 42nd St and been intrigued by the modern design and panelling. I assumed it was quite new, but just found out it was built in 1956 and was the first stainless steel clad skyscraper.

Beautiful exterior, with panels that look like those used for tin-pressed ceilings. Apparently it was recently cleaned, hence the shiny, new look about the building, and sold earlier this year for $900M.

Makes a nice partner to the Chrysler Building on the opposite side of the road.
