Life's Little Moments

West coast hummer

I promised a bird today, and what better bird than a hummer? This is a juvenile male Anna's hummingbird, showing his fierce side. There are several Anna's visiting mom's feeders - male, female, and at least two juvenile males. These hummers are a little larger than my ruby-throats, and generally have a rounder, more robust looking body (if "robust" can ever be used on a thumb-sized bird.). In character, the are the same - aggressively defending feeders and relentless chasing each other. Totally enchanting to watch.

We went out this morning and hiked the 2.5 mile trail at Tualatin NWR - lots of fun and we saw many interesting creatures along the way. Mostly, though, it was just fun spending time together. I am so lucky to have both parents.

I posted 8 other photos from today on Flickr starting HERE

Thank you for stopping by, and Happy hump day!

Cheers
Debbi
