Sleepy sightseeing

As I indicated in my blip yesterday this image was taken two hours after a sleepless overnight flight so interest was probably flagging. We visited the Temple of Heaven in Beijing and one of the things if noted immediately was how difficult it was going to be to take decent images of architecture in Beijing because of the constant cloud and air pollution. You have monochrome white skies or grey skies but no puffy clouds and subtle lighting so I guess my blips are all going to be of architectural details. This image is of one of the side temples in Imperial Vault of Heaven which is surrounded by the Echo Wall. The camera has done a good job of rendering a lot more detail that we could actually see with the naked eye. The highly painted and decorated woodwork is, of course a feature of Chinese architecture
