Hope Valley Quarry

One of the more striking places you see in the Peak District is the quarry at Hope where they've been mining at this quarry since 1929.
It was here long before the National Park and it's practices are watched very carefully by the National Park and the Environment agency as it's such an environmentally sensitive area.
I'd always wanted to get up close and get a good look at it and this evening I ad the opportunity as they were holding the Business Peak District AGM and were giving guided tours.
I was surprised to see that they've also got a golf club, bowling green, club house and fishing lakes there which I think are by membership only. But with the cost at £150 per year it's hardly cost prohibitive and anyone is welcome to join.
Great place and a really good meeting.
