Gimme Shelter

Rather than returning on the sand along the ocean, I finished my morning stroll at the deserted amusement park. I never go there when it's open, or when other people are around. What I'm after are the colors and a kind of eeriness that descends when no one is there.

On a completely different note: I've been making fig jam--we have a fantastic crop of green Genoas that cook down to a lovely dark purplish red. Today's batch was fig/lavender--you tie up a bunch of lavender sprigs in a muslin bag and simmer them in the pot. I'm not sure I can really taste it, but it sure smelled good in the kitchen.
