Western Scrub Jay

We have had several western scrub jays in our yard today.

This morning they were calling much more than we’ve heard before.

Seems they will call to other scrub jays when one of them comes upon a dead jay; it’s known as “summoning to a funeral”.

Maybe that’s what they were up to?
