Godwit on the marais

I think this is a black tailed godwit and a whole flock of them arrived this evening to have a feed at high tide on the salt marsh opposite our cottage. They were accompanied by lapwings who act as effective lookouts if there's a sign of trouble - like a marsh harrier which was on patrol at one point. We tucked ourselves behind a bale of hay and just watched for a little while, enjoying the warm sun.
