Heritage Weekend

I love the annual Heritage Weekends. You get to visit and explore buildings you would not normally visit - and you have interesting and enthusiastic people on hand to talk to.
This is St Peter's Church Sowerby (Nr. Halifax), built in 1762 to replace an older building that was becoming too small and in need of many repairs.
It's an unprepossessing and fairly utilitarian looking building on the outside (it is on the top of a hill and exposed to some uncompromising weather), but inside - how very different.
Very impressive, and I bet it was when it was in full swing. There was an organist playing away whilst we walked around - I can imagine that rattling the timbers to a full congregation.
Quite a revelation - and most enjoyable.
Looks quite good viewed 'Large' .
