Dogs' Day Out

Today was special for Blenheim Dogs. One of our Veterinary Clinics,"Vets on Alabama", along with a local radio station organised a “Dogs Day Out”.
The event was held on a wide area of the Taylor River reserve and it kicked off at 10am. There were free health checks (heart and teeth) for the dogs, a barbeque and a coffee kiosk for the humans, vouchers and spot prizes, large unruly group walks in opposite directions, lots of socialising between dogs and dogs, humans and dogs and humans and humans. There were well over two hundred dogs of all shapes and sizes and differing breeds there. Although they were on their leads most of the time, I reckon the dogs enjoyed the day as much as we did. Blipper, Sarah Kerr helped Vet, Stu Kerr with the health checks and Blipper Ricky Wilson was there to photograph folk and their dogs. It was heaps of fun and a great success. We loved the event and can’t wait for next year’s one. Well done to all who organised such a fun time for all.
My image shows part of the long queue of dogs and their owners waiting in line for their free doggy health checks. I suspect the woman on the far right of the image is chastising the dog next to her two. Hmm…it looks a bit like Fergus...but wasn’t. Phew!
