The World Turned Upside Down

A rather underwhelming piece of public art called Face of Wigan has an even more tedious reverse side - or so I thought until these children showed how much fun it could be, in the right hands.

The location is now known, improbably, as Believe Square, using a slogan adopted by the Borough after a successful campaign by the local football club Wigan Athletic. The whole thing stinks of marketing. A far better name is Gerrard Winstanley Place, after the locally-born leader of the Diggers whose legacy we were there to celebrate.

Plus a bonus backblip.
