Blissfull Ignorance

Symi - Day 11

I saw this little scene developing in front of me as we ate our lunch and was every bit as close as it looks here. I'm no seafarer but I'm prety sure the dutchman is in the wrong, speeding across the front of the white boat like this, forcing the white boat to reverse engines to avoid a collision.

ED: He did have right of way but it looked like a damn silly maneuver.

While on our way to lunch we passed the police station and found a large number of unexpected arrivals being slowly processed by the border police. There has been another refugee boat impounded here. As I mentioned, we're just a few miles from the Turkish coast here (the land in the background is Turkey) and therefore one of the hotest spots in Europe for people trafficing but resources are non existent. One, frequently blocked, toilet and a broken tap is just not good enough. There are local efforts to raise money for bottles of water and such but it's not much more than a band-aid to the problem. Policy makers in Brusels need to get their priorities sorted on this one.

I didn't want to lower their dignity lower by taking a shot of them just to get a Blip.
