Our final day on the Yangzi

Our day started with a three hour visit to the Three Gorges Dam project beginning at 8.30am ! It is certainly a massive if controversial undertaking, more than million people had to be relocated. There is a high viewpoint over the dam which was thronged with visitors including one exuberant young Chinese party who insisted on having pictures of their whole group in front of all the viewpoints. They even dragged Margaret and me into their picture at one point. Margaret who is generally camera phobic was somewhat disconcerted. There must be several versions of these photographs on the Chinese equivalent of Facebook. It's been a bit of a bind that we cannot receive Facebook whilst in mainland China especially with all the Scottish referendum news featuring so widely. My blip is taken from this viewpoint minus the exuberant Chinese group. We then embarked on the boat again for the final few miles of our trip down the Yangzi travelling the third of the gorges. I was delighted to be able to capture a bird of prey flying in front of the ship which I maybe will include in my blip folio when I have been able to identify it.

We then disembarked to travel to the airport for our flight to Shanghai. The motorway to the airport was not fully completed so there points at which we were driving through infrastructure works on dirt roads.
