Edinburgh

Here are Edinburgh's two main newspapers, reflecting the referendum result.

I bet that The Scotsman, first published in 1817, and the Edinburgh Evening News first published in 1873, have reported on many defining moments in both Scottish and British history, and in my view this must be one of those moments.

However, what stands out apart from the obvious, is the overall turnout figure, an overall 85% percent figure for Scotland as a whole, and over 90% for East Dunbartonshire and the ever lovely East Renfrewshire. These figures put to shame, the usual dismal low election figures, particularly, the local elections. So surely, if you can engage the electorate this is proof that they feel engaged back, thereby voting.

Another standout from this referendum is fact that you can trust the 16 and 17 year olds to make informed decisions, so should we perhaps lower the voting age limit to 16 and above, for all elections in the UK.

Oh, by the way, Edinburgh voted 61% for 'No'.

Thanks for taking time to read my last 3 days of electoral wisdom, and I hope over everything, that the divisions that appeared during this campaign can be healed and that us Scots like each other again.
