Meet the family

Not ours.

And not the best photo of the day, but the most appropriate one.

Up in Newcastle for an afternoon tea to celebrate the scholarship winners in the health faculty of which Zoe was the recipient of the physiotherapy scholarship.

Here is Zoe with Janice Croese, the niece of Lewis Ewart Lewis who, aged 95 on his passing established the physiotherapy scholarship at Newcastle University. Janice told us how Lewis was studying to be a minister when he was run over and broke his back. Following this terrible accident, and determined to walk again, Lewis began his study of physiotherapy, his studies taking him to England initially and in latter years all over the world. He was a pioneer of the study of physiotherapy, patients travelled over 5 hours to consult with him, and he selflessly devoted his free time to community service.

It was wonderful to be able to spend some time with Lewis' family who were justifiably so proud of him and his achievements. Their joy in giving was as wonderful to observe as it was to see the pleasure in seeing the recipients being rewarded for their commitment to excellence.

There really should be more of it. We'd all be the better for it.
