Vendange 2014

The grapes in front of one of our bedroom windows have matured about eleven days earlier than they did last year (28 September 2013).

These grapes do not contain enough sugar for wine-making, and even at their ripest not really good for eating as raw fruit. Unfortunately, the birds think that they are tasty, so we cannot leave them to ripen on the vine much longer than this.

This collection has now been converted to grape jelly, which makes an excellent condiment for many foods.
