Buzzing in the sun

I haven't seen many bee's around, which is a bit disappointing as the plum tree's are all in flower at the moment. I did, however, find this flying insect - whatever it is - on the Daphne bush. I don't think it is a honey bee - if anyone can identify it, I'd be interested to know.

We have had a glorious day, albeit a bit cool with the wind breeze that we currently have. There is a good layer of snow on the mountains, which is helping to create the cool air temperature when outside and not in a sheltered place.

Son T is tramping the Able Tasman this week. Hopefully it will be fine....but I'm guessing it will be rather cold overnight in the tents they are sleeping in. Rather him than me!
