Macro saves the day

I'm at work until late tonight - an evening meeting - so I ducked outside this afternoon in the hope of something I could capture with my macro lens.

This bee kindly obliged.

I am amazed by just how much pollen is squeezed into that 'saddlebag'. It is always a surprise when I see they have gathered white pollen - the yellow/gold being so much more common.
