Thursday 18 February 2010: Celebrating

To celebrate the outdoors in honour of a man who loved it dearly, we went for a walk at the Fish Hatchery after work today.
We don't fish, so we're hardly the target group, but the Hatchery is really nice. In previous summers I've seen bats, muskrats, snakes and too many bird species to mention.
In winter, there's just the swans and geese.

It was above freezing today and the ground was slushy. The birds heard us coming before we even passed the show-pond (where we stopped to feed the fish) and announced to the world they were unhappy with our presence.
I could have pretended they were elated, but the fact that they all swam away in our opposite direction was a dead giveaway.

The sun was warm in our faces, we looked at the fluffy clouds change shape above our heads, listened to the honking of the birds and all was well with the world. Thanks, Papa :)
