Viola

My warm new cosy fire took precedence over mono Monday yesterday but thought I would still put this one up be it a little late as the theme was music.

The viola is slightly larger than a violin and has a deeper sound. Since the 18th century it has been the middle voice of the violin family, sitting between the violin and cello in an orchestra and positioned right in front of the conductor. Music that is written for the viola differs from that of most other instruments, in that it primarily uses the Alto Clef which is otherwise rarely used and makes learning a challenge. Musicians who play the viola are quite often in demand as there are very few of them.

Daughter E chose to learn the viola after a couple of years of learning the violin, she preferred the more mellow sound near her ear and with this in mind I chose the softer approach for this shot.

If your interested in hearing the sound of a viola have a listen to the link below performed by soloist Rose Armbrust Griffin with the Midwest Young Artists.

Teleman Viola Concerto in G major

Quite a different day weatherwise today, a warm 23C after noon, blue sky which clouded over late afternoon, its been calm as can be and no fire required.

Happy Tuesday everyone :)
