Scotland has what it takes....

I spent the day at the Scottish Learning Festival, the fifth time I have attended and given the opening keynote as Cabinet Secretary for Education & Lifelong Learning. It was great touring the exhibition stands later on and speaking to so many enthusiastic educators of various types as well as lots of young people.

Before dinner with a few of the speakers including Professor Alma Harris and the inspirational John Carnochan I welcomed the international delegates at a reception in the Glasgow City Chambers. The highland dancers and the Pipe Band (from Dunoon Grammar School I am very pleased to say) were the highlight of the event with everyone wanting a picture. For these visitors, the representatives of a dozen nations, in education and in culture Scotland has what it takes.
