McMillan Coffee Morning

It is that time of the year again;

Patricia and family were away in Chicago for three weeks at their son's wedding and only came back on Tuesday, so today's coffee morning has been a rush to organise. There is a lot of work done to turn their house into a tearoom, including removing all the downstairs doors. My blip is taken from the living room looking on to the conservatory, before the visitors arrived, and before the cakes are added to the tables. Peace before mayhem!!!

I am a waitress and dish washer for the morning, and boy, do I respect people who do these jobs on a regular basis. Very tiring.

However, it was all good fun, the baking was superb as usual, the auction went very well; there was a bottle of whisky auctioned for £150, it seems it was worth £250. And a week's holiday for two in Blackpool fo r £75, in a nice hotel. Not bad.

Just had an e-mail from Patricia to say that we raised £1,800, and money still to come in....... I still have over £50 to hand in for the super recipe book which Patricia produces each year.

Love the little quotation in the recipe book this year -

"If we are not meant to have midnight snacks, why is there a light in the fridge?'

So far we are up £200 on last year's total, so all good.

A brilliant bunch of girls, and a great charity to support. It was a good morning.

And the day has been perfect, sunny with blue skies and fluffy clouds.
