Lost in Thought

All rather uncertain and minimal fun

This is not a 'good photograph' but it does sum up the ~24 hours before I took it ....

We rented an apartment in Barcelona and had the owners contact us three days before leaving to ask if we could change to a different one
The alternative was ok - perhaps a little well used but everything worked - until Monday afternoon when the electricity supply failed.
We called the owners, they 'changed a fuse' but at 18:00 no electricity ....
They suggested the original flat, which was available for a couple of days, but, Gill saw a large cockroach in the kitchen and the fridge freezer was duff.
Back to the apartment without electricity - at least we had torches - only to realise I had left my mobile in one of the taxis ....

Tuesday .....
Tourist Info people very helpful in calling the taxi lost property office ....
and we decided to go out anyway as there is no point in sitting around feeling grumpy ...
Low cloud everywhere, but at least the 10 trip metro tickets worked like a charm
The apartment owners called (Gill's mobile) to say the electric company would look at their meter fuses on Wednesday ... so no lights/chargers/hot water tonight.
Back to the TIC - they found us a hotel within 10 minutes!
The hotel turned out to be pretty good and ... the receptionist called the taxi lost property who had my mobile and sent it to the hotel ;-)
The receptionist explained how to organise tickets for Segrada Familia and Park Guell (without the queuing) i.e. book on line and she printed them for us.
We stayed in the hotel for the rest of the week: Hotel Taber (256 Carrer de Arago) 5 minutes walk from Passeig de Gracia metro and the staff are helpful & friendly!

We're still waiting on the apartment owners refunding our rental .... but I suspect that will take a while, hopefully they are just disorganised rather than dishonest.

So that's why there have been few blips this week! The sun did shine for most of the week and apart from the above, we did enjoy most of our time there!
