Folkestone Harbour - but nearly a sunset again....

Spent most of the day with long time friend for lunch in Folkstone. I've known John since we started secondary school almost 50 years ago now. By and large we've kept in touch all these years and recently we've taken to enjoying lunch together and having a good old chat.

Today John was looking after his son's dog Bobek a little terrier which, like most terriers, had a lot to say for himself especially when other dogs were around. An interesting fact about Bobek is that he is of Polish origin and so only knows Polish commands. The command for sit sounds rather rude, so I shan't repeat it here but it is very funny.

We were able to sit on seats overlooking Folkestone Harbour eating fish and chips from the Smokehouse in warm late September sunshine. As John remarked, we were rather like the characters in Last of the Summer Wine, but we really needed a third person there with us and some larking about going on. Mostly we were reflecting on how fortunate we were to be able to enjoy the fruits of our working lives and not be bothered by the trials and tribulations of the teaching profession today (where we spent all our professional careers).
