Autumn has arrived!!

Today we headed up to Haweswater in the hope of seeing the ruins of the flooded village of Mardale Green. The hamlet lay at the head of the valley and was flooded in 1935 to raise the water levels of Haweswater reservoir to service the people of Manchester with their water. Unfortunately the water levels had risen slightly over the last few days so it was no all visible, although we did manage a walk down the old road leading in to the village from the fells, which is usually submerged. If nothing else, my boys had a fab time exploring the stones of yesteryear!
