The annual mop fair is in the streets of Alcester as it has been since about 1292.
Hiring or mop fairs were places where people seeking employment gathered, carrying the tools of their trade or some item to denote their particular skill, in order to meet with potential employers. It's all changed a bit since then, and is now largely noisy rides and smelly fast food. Kids love it!
