Middle Pier

I was down at the boat awhile! Getting the mainsail measured up. And chatting about the place. When you get a bit older and I guess a bit more set in your ways, you tend not to meet so many people outside your own circle of friends. So it was good to spend some time listening to J who has a wee 19' boat which has become his life. He's huge debts, and hasn't worked for the past few months though has got a job starting on Monday (he's a fork lift driver) which is at Duns, which'll be a hundred mile round trip each day, leaving him with not a lot, after the arrestment of his wages, too. He owes the club 60 quid, and is considering taking his boat up to his front garden in the scheme above Granton to save on his winter yard storage fees. He said he'd just like to sail away and live on his boat someplace. Just on the anchor. Just getting away from it all, and all his worries.
