Thursday 25 February 2010: "The Beast"
This thing almost caused a divorce! Our pregnant stray had given birth to her litter of 6 and we wanted something for them to play on as and when they grew up but all the 'cat activity trees' in the shops were hugely overpriced for very little 'activity'... cue DIY-man and his fearless sidekick a.k.a. me!
We had great fun planning it out, finding the wood, the paint and even came across a great roll of really rough rope to wind around the columns... we bought two of those 'screw to the door/wall' scratching posts for ramps and some colour-coordinated carpet for the surfaces. The number of 'friendly disagreements' we had whilst building this thing is nearing 3 figures but it was worth it because it is, if I say so myself, the mother of all cat trees.
And they never use it!
Isn't that always the way?
Ginge couldn't get down off this thing fast enough when he saw me with the camera, hugely embarrassed to be caught using it when there's perfectly good sofas to shred...
