Duma and Mehitabel's Dad and Uncle Steve

It was a busy day today. I started out by driving down to Chuckanut Bay Brewery to pick up my paintings. Then Steve, Dave and Nora arrived and the six of us all headed out to visit artist's studios as part of the two weekend Artist Studio Tour. We had a great time visiting artists we knew and some new ones we didn't know.

We took a short break for lunch and Dave and Nora took of for Lynden to make their final decision whether to add a Havanese puppy to their family. We saw his picture and hoped they would decide to take him. (They did and he will come home to their house on November 1st.)

Helena stayed home while Steve, Arvin and I headed up to visit our friends the Kirkvliets. Brian is an amazing glass artist whose "Gossimer Glass" studio is on the tour. They also have a large organic farm where they raise almost all of their own food and lots of other goodies to sell. It was from their farm that we got Duma and Mehitabel.

Six years ago on the last day of the studio tour, we were greeted by Pouncer, a large dilute marmalade and white tom cat who was the most loving and affectionate cat we'd ever met. I told Brian that I'd love to have a cat like that and he mentioned that there were kittens. His younger daughter Rosie had brought a little white female cat home and Pouncer was quite delighted with her. The result was four kittens and we ended up taking two of them. They are the best kitties we've ever had.

Today we went looking for Pouncer. He has grown even bigger than when we first met him. Steve sat down and Pouncer climbed aboard for a good loving just as he did the day we first met him. Meanwhile we enjoyed the company of Brian and his family.

When we got home. Dave and Nora were already there. I made dinner for everybody and we had a great time talking and laughing until it was time for Dave and Nora to head home. Steve and I played a game of Carcassonne and then he headed home too. It was a lovely day.
