Sgwarnog: In the Field

Standards

autumn's
measured arrival
standards of length

Laid out by the City of Bradford in 1908 and moved to its current location in 1913, the "standards of length" of 100 feet and 100 links (standard chain) enabled the local textile industry to check their own measuring devices and thus assure their customers, and the city, of their honesty.

I've seen a similar set in Sheffield, but I'm not sure how common they were, or how many survivals there are. Do you have them in your city?
